The Argentine Tango Master Astor Piazzolla is known as the creator of the neuvo tango, and his compositions reflect a blend of traditional Argentine Tango along with Jazz and Classical influences. Piazzolla revered the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, particularly Bach’s Fugues, which he studied throughout his life. This led him to composing many masterful fugues of his own, including his riveting FUGATA, which is the first movement of a 3-movement suite called Silfo Y Ondino, in tribute to the spirits of the air and water. Fugata is an intricately constructed fugue and is an homage to his idol and master of this genre, Johann Sebastian Bach This was arranged for Ensemble Vivant by Julian Labro.
